Solutions
Moisture, maceration and well-being of the horse's hoof. Discover how to keep the frog dry, protected and functional with a preventive and environmental-management approach, even before the problem appears.
First the microenvironment, then the solution
Cavalli Scalzi is first and foremost a tool for prevention, environmental management and functional support of the hoof. It helps keep the hoof dry and protected during risky periods and environments: it is not a product designed to “treat” a hoof condition.
Why the problem develops
The deterioration of the frog does not depend on a single factor but on the combination of environmental conditions that favour the persistence of moisture and organic material. Among the most common causes:
When these conditions persist, the hoof's microenvironment loses its natural balance and the horny tissue can undergo maceration.
The hoof microenvironment
The frog lives in a delicate balance between moisture and ventilation. When the hoof remains in prolonged contact with organic material and wet environments, the horny tissue retains moisture and can undergo maceration, losing consistency and firmness.
How to use Cavalli Scalzi
Cavalli Scalzi as environmental management during risky periods and environments: the mineral clay absorbs excess moisture while activated charcoal and natural plant tar help keep the hoof dry and protected.

The sign to recognise
A bad smell is the sign everyone recognises: it indicates that organic material has accumulated in the grooves of the frog and that the microenvironment has lost its balance. It is an early warning sign, to be managed before the situation becomes established.
How to use Cavalli Scalzi
Cavalli Scalzi can be introduced as early as the initial, superficial stages of tissue alteration, after thorough cleaning of the hoof, to help restore a drier, healthier environment.

Treatment objectives
Barefoot and transition
In barefoot and transitioning horses the sole and the frog are exposed directly to the ground, without the mechanical barrier of the shoe. In these horses, managing the hoof's microenvironment takes on an even more important role, especially when the ground is wet.
How to use Cavalli Scalzi
Cavalli Scalzi is the formula specific to the barefoot hoof: designed precisely for barefoot and transitioning horses, it strengthens the horny structure and helps the hoof stay dry and protected even on wet ground.

Preventive management
The health of the frog depends on consistency more than intensity. Scheduled use during risky periods helps keep the hoof's microenvironment stable, preventing small imbalances from accumulating over time.
How to use Cavalli Scalzi
Add Cavalli Scalzi to your hoof-management routine after cleaning the hoof, adjusting the frequency according to the season and environmental conditions.

When professional intervention is needed
Cavalli Scalzi supports environmental and preventive management in the initial, superficial stages. In the presence of deep or persistent tissue alterations, pain, lameness, heat or significant discharge, it is necessary to consult a farrier or veterinarian. In these cases the product can complement, but does not replace, the assessment and intervention of the professional.
