ArgiStrong vs ClayPower Arnica: which one to choose for your horse

Two clay packs with different characteristics for different needs. When to use ArgiStrong in your daily routine and when to opt for ClayPower Arnica after competitions.

The same base, two different formulas

Both products share the same outstanding raw material: Nocera Umbra clay, extracted and processed according to the Miraclay protocol. The difference lies in the additional formulation and the intensity of action, designed to address two distinct moments in the life of a sport horse.

Understanding which one to choose does not mean giving up one for the other: many professional riders use both, with precise rationales for each. The key is to know the characteristics of each one.

ArgiStrong: the everyday clay pack

ArgiStrong is formulated for frequent, continuous use. Its composition balances the mineralising action of Umbrian clay with a refreshing component based on natural menthol, which delivers an immediate sensation of relief and supports the microcirculation of the limbs.

  • Texture: creamy, easy to spread even over large areas
  • Action: mineralising, thermoregulating, draining
  • Ideal frequency: 3–5 times a week during the training season
  • Application time: 45–90 minutes after training
  • Ideal for: preventive maintenance, recovery after routine work sessions

ClayPower Arnica: for intense situations

ClayPower Arnica adds a highly concentrated, fat-soluble Arnica montana to Umbrian clay. Arnica is recognised for its natural soothing and anti-inflammatory properties: it works in synergy with the clay's minerals to speed up recovery during moments of greater physical stress.

  • Texture: thicker, designed for targeted and overnight applications
  • Action: mineralising + soothing + natural anti-inflammatory
  • Ideal frequency: before and after competitions, during periods of intensive training
  • Application time: 60 minutes – all night
  • Ideal for: post-competition recovery, marked swelling, horses with a history of tendon issues

How to integrate them into your routine

The most effective protocol used by top-level riders is to keep both products in the stable and alternate their use according to the competition calendar:

Ordinary training weeks
ArgiStrong after every work session, 3–4 times a week. Result: limbs maintained, tendons supported, recovery accelerated.
Pre-competition weeks
ClayPower Arnica in the 48 hours before the competition, applied in the evening and left on all night. It prepares the limb to withstand maximal effort.
Post-competition
ClayPower Arnica immediately on returning, left on for 6–8 hours. In the following days you go back to ArgiStrong for maintenance.
Pro Tip If your horse has a history of tendon problems or is recovering from an injury, use ClayPower Arnica as the main clay pack for at least 30 days, then assess with the veterinarian the switch to ArgiStrong for ordinary maintenance.

Can I use them together?

There is no need to mix the two products in the same layer. If you want to get the most out of a particularly critical moment, you can apply ClayPower Arnica to the most stressed areas (flexor tendons, pastern ligaments) and ArgiStrong to the maintenance areas. Let it dry normally: the two products are completely compatible.
